Julianne Moore’s Home in New York

Aug 26th 2009,   18 Comments,   interior design tag

American actress Julianne Moore (remember movies like The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Far From Heaven, The Hours ? ) has won many accolades throughout her career for her superb acting skills which include nominations for the Oscar, Golden Globe, and the Screen Actors Guild Award.

But it seems acting is just one of her talents. Going by the snaps of her self decorated West Village Townhouse in New York, I would say she has excellent taste in interior design as well. Her style seems to be rustic with an eclectic flair and it appears she particularly favours the colour gray. :) BTW, If you come across some cool celebrity house that you think need to be featured here at Home-Designing, please mention that in the comments. Also we run a steady stream of cool posts like this at Home Designing and if you like to be notified when we have more such inspiring posts, please subscribe to our feed or newsletter!

She has listed this home up for sale now. Guess it’s time to move on.

Built in the late 1800’s, this house has been meticulously renovated with an eye on retaining the original architectural detail, such as crown moldings and wide plank pine floors, while introducing modern amenities such as central air, high speed computer lines and a security system.

The house has five floors complete with a fully landscaped beautiful garden. Every floor is dedicated to utmost luxury with a master bedroom suite, spa like bath, large children bedrooms, and laundry room. The large eat-in kitchen at the rear of the house leads to the garden. The fifth floor has been turned into a home office at the rear and a large recreational media room in the front.

This is not the first house associated with a movies star (or movie) that we have featured on Home-Designing. Check out the Twilight House, and the Lance Armstrong’s House that we have featured before.

  1. I love the softness of her living room and I wish my kitchen was that vast.

  2. Claudia M says:

This is definetely a house, not a home. Looks life less!

  3. Dudeson says:

Its beautiful. I’d love to live in a place like that.

  4. Ashley says:

I love how she lives a simple life…. well simple from most Hollywood celebrities. You can tell it’s a home to come to rather then look how big my house is. Great design it looks like a place someone has or could live in.

  5. I would have loved to have seen that nature photo inset in the wall by the stairs! I think that would have an amazing effect in that room.

  6. Cole says:

In the picture with the bathtub, on the tv screen there is a naked woman getting into a different bathtub.

  7. Jan Barker says:

Very nice interior photos but badly let down by the unloved garden. It looks like the ‘before’ picture in a garden makeover.

Dig up those awful paving slabs and plant something!

  8. Charles says:

Simply Fantastic! I little piece of heaven on earth

  9. Raluca says:

So, how much is the house?

  10. Katie says:

So…I’m pretty sure I have the same brown and white bedspread. It’s from Kohl’s. If it’s the same one, that makes me very impressed with Julianne Moore.Thrifty! If not, I guess it makes me impressed with Kohl’s…and with my own sense of style?

  11. r10t3r says:

No wonder she’s moving, its terrible.

    :S

  12. Jans says:

I can also see why she is selling the place. Just look at the size of that bedroom – too small. If a fire was lit in the fireplace, the bedding would catch fire. The rooms are much too narrow for actual living in. My guess is that the house was not used much and maybe only when she was in town.

    • MPW says:

If a fire was lit in that fireplace the whole house would catch fire… no grate, disused chimney…
As for too narrow for living in? WTF? For real!

  13. Facaderens says:

Its a very beautiful house and the frontage looks so excellent. Keep up the good work!

  14. Sameer says:

wow, amazing home, i very like the designing behing the structure..

  15. To be honest, I don’t care where Julianne Moore lives… just let her live there
