The World’s Most Expensive Home Is Ready for its Owner

Archive

‘Mansion’ is not the word but perhaps there shouldn’t be one to describe an entire high-rise building designed as a single family home. The owner Mukesh Ambani is the richest man in India and chairman to the country’s largest private sector company. His 1 billion dollar home took 7 years to complete and now stands as one of the tallest in downtown South Mumbai. With 400,000 square feet of interior space, the residence comes complete with a ballroom, plenty of lounges, 9 elevators, a 6 story parking garage, 4 floors of outdoor gardens, 3 helipads on the roof and 1 private gym for every member of the family! The architecture firms Perkins & Will and Hirsch Bedner Associates were the inspiration behind this gigantic home and contributed to the preliminary plans by wishes of the billionaire’s wife.

As extra as this all sounds, everyone wants a peek! But unless you are one of the elite who will be taking a preview tour of the home on Oct. 28th, you must wait in line with the crowd. We must admit that the interiors are way more exciting than the exterior of this place and we can only imagine what the housewarming celebration is going to be- red carpet event, anyone? There really are no words to describe this billion dollar edifice where only 4 people live and no two rooms look alike, so feel free to lend us a name for none other than what is known as the most expensive home in the world…
