For those of us who seek something a little different for our bathrooms, ArtCeram have stepped up with a collection to blow our minds. In fact, these pieces might look more at home in the ceramics section of a department store than in your local bathroom fitters showroom. Unique lines and bold designs, along with everyday household objects, have been scaled up to find new homes in our bathrooms, cloakrooms, and ensuites.

A basin resembling a huge coffee cup is charmingly suited for purpose, with an integrated towel rail at the ‘handle’; this piece speaks for itself, so team with simple surroundings and a minimalist wall mounted faucet. The ‘cow’ collection gives us a herd of four legged friends for our wash space, the quirky form is available in striking black, or true farm yard lovers can go the whole hog with zany cow print.

If you’re not feeling so eccentric, alternative wow factor can be achieved with strong geometric shapes, or organic, wall hugging forms. Clean, seamless vessels become contemporary works of art when stark white ceramic is adorned with striking black line work and pattern, and the simplicity of a single sheet of curved glass floating beneath a waterfall faucet is clearly stunning.

Another surprisingly elegant basin shape is inspired by a table lamp, paired with a stand pipe mixer that would look at home in an umbrella stand!

Jaw-droppingly Gorgeous Bathrooms That Combine Vintage With Modern

These wonderful bathroom designs made us gasp! Irina Schastlivaya can make bathrooms look like works of art, simply by using patterns on tiles. The patterns are not too in-your-face and by that making the space appear even smaller and cluttered – they are unnoticable, at first, but add a whole new dimension to what would easily be a boring bathroom. She always slips one or two eye-catching details that make the space feel inviting. Golden handles or thin golden tiles, ambient lighting cleverly distributed throughout the room that create a warm, inviting atmosphere… as if she knows just exactly what every bathroom should feel like! Scroll on to see some truly amazing work from a gifted artist.

When it comes to combining vintage and modern, that’s a job that is quite tricky if you’re not a genuine professional. It can look abruptly put together, and even clashing. But it seems to us that this designer passed yet another test – just look what she did with this warm, luxurious bathroom which combines modern furniture in a strong colour, with strong patterns and decors on the tiles and the glass doors. Who would say that halogen lights above the mirror go so well with vintage patterns on these voluptuous red tiles?

Now, with slightly bigger bathrooms, the designer gave herself room for over-doing it. Painting the pipes in a rich gold colour, choosing to clash warm toned tiles with cooler toned ones, or mixing patterns all over the place, we feel that when it comes to these designs, it becomes a question of taste. Some people may like the Moroccan feel of the blueish-cream bathroom, and some may find it to be too much. To some, marble is cold and slippery, hence impractical, and don’t think that it’s the best choice for a bathroom floor, but those who like luxury and a vintage feel in their bathrooms should enjoy these upcoming photographs. We find them very interesting and wonderful! Especially the ones, where she combines dark wood with different tiles!

Unique Bathroom Designs by Daymon Studio and Semsa Bilge

Looking to add modernity, a touch of color and quirkiness to your bathroom? Perhaps you should take some cues from Polish designers Daymon Studio and Turkish designer, Semsa Bilge.

Semsa Bilge’s bathroom designs incorporate vibrant color and graphic prints that seem to jump off the walls.

The color combinations in this bathroom are striking, particularly the graphic prints that line the walls and the wonderful purple sink.

Perhaps my favorite out of the whole bunch, Bilge incorporates Japanese Edo artist Hokusai’s famous woodblock print of “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” on the wall of this edgy bathroom. She maintains the same woodblock print look by using tiny, square tiles and keeps the rest of the bathroom in the same theme by lining all of the walls with the same tiles in blue and black and engraving waves along the edge of the tub.

Bilge adds vibrant plaid graphic prints to the walls of this bathroom for a truly unique design concept.

Daymon Studio likes to create colorful, clean designs with a lot of charm and personality.

Daymon created this 3D-design as a concept for a smaller bathroom. Lovely large, beige tiles line the walls and smaller, square brown ones encase the rectangular tub. A simple mirror hangs on the wall and a wood sink offers a natural touch. Pops of color in the towel, vase, and floor mat add a cheerful vibe to the small space.

Here they create a bathroom in which one wall and the floor are covered in brown tiles, while the other wall and ceiling are simply cream-colored. This choice makes the room exciting by breaking traditional design rules, while also compromising two different tastes, which as a result, makes the space equally luxurious and comfortable.

Designer Bathtubs

It’s as if these bathtub designers had poetry in mind when they compiled these designs. Each tub seems pure metaphor. Lying in them, enjoying their hydrotherapeutic essence, will feel like Calgone has taken you away.

The Strip tub by Aquamass conjures images of waterfalls in a tropical paradise. It comes in freestanding or wall-mounted forms. [Via]

Those who take their hygiene to scientific levels might prefer the Beignet tub by Japan-based Spiritual Mode.

Instead of the little old woman who lived in a shoe you can be the lavish woman who bathed in a shoe. SICIS designed these glass mosaic shoe tubs.

Ron Arad worked with Italian bathroom design company Teuco to reinvent the boxy standup shower. Turn the lip up when showering or turn it down when bathing in this gorgeous multipurpose unit. [Via]

ZAAFDesign has designed this Brezza Bathtub and constructed it out of Corian for Wisdom Sanitary Ware Co., Ltd.. The problem is that of form and function. Who’s actually going to sit beside the bather, on Corian? That it looks like a glass of spilling milk suspended in time almost makes up for that major design flaw. [Via]

Perhaps a professional scuba diver or even a marine biologist might be as fish-friendly as required of the homeowner who buys this, the $14,500 Moody Acquario. One question lingers: how does one clean out the fish tank? [Via]

Use this Utuwa tub, designed by Spiritual Mode to soak from head to toe or just to soak the feet. [Via]

This glorious sunken bathing round with a built-in foot massage, known as the Shore Tub, is the result of a creative collaboration of the HeyTeam Collective and Teuco.[Via]

50 Modern Bathrooms

We are just awestruck by this Italian company Cerasa‘s bathroom collection. Brought to our attention by style spotter Trendir, these designs ooze a sort of vitality we rarely see of such spaces. With in-floor bathtubs and luxury furniture the atmosphere they bring about is akin to those found in spas. Obviously most of the concepts do require a lot of space and we suspect any of these would find room in a typical apartment setting. But if you are the kind of person who is not too shy to treat yourself to some niceties (plus have space to play around with), you might want to give this a look.

Also we wanted to put in a tip for furniture designers who would like to have their work featured here. If you would like to know the secret of having your entire catalog featured in a design blog for free, you might want to take a cue from Cerasa’s website. The site is pretty much what design bloggers like us look for – no fancy flash animations, clean & sensible navigation and most importantly a gallery of high resolution images of professionally photographed product realizations. How often furniture makers fail us in this respect, we have lost count.

The repeating sinks balance the weight of the stone bathtub on the opposite side of the room. All the elements including the tinted glass divider are a warm neutral shade, reflecting a harmonious bathroom.

This large mirror plays the perfect balancing act between the natural stone wall and the over-sized chandelier.
