Imaginative people thrive in inspiring surroundings, that’s why art makes an essential home decor accent for young professionals in the creative industries. However, there also needs to be breathing space for originality to ignite and grow. These two stylish apartment interiors hit the balance just right. Based in a cool grey decor palette, the modern neutral decor allows the bright energy of colourful art pieces to shine, and new ideas to flourish. These homes feature compact open concept kitchen, diner, lounge space combos for easy living, relaxing bedroom designs for valuable down time, as well as two very different comfortable home workspaces for assembling projects whenever inspiration strikes.
Our first featured apartment design belongs to a couple who blur the boundaries between their intrinsic creativity, recreation, and their work in robotics. After a day of collaborating on 3D projects, the young homeowners spend their evenings on the couch. The graphic print modern sofa design sets an energised vibe at the heart of the open plan kitchen, diner, lounge combo. 
By night, the couple play video games, soak up some TV and generate ideas for new projects. Soft perimeter lighting draws special attention to the TV wall. A robotic KAWS character is depicted in wall art that brings a bright pop of orange to the grey interior. 
A large rug outlines the lounge as a separate zone from the dining area directly behind it. 
The open concept provides opportunity for a large gathering of teammates to talk over projects, or to take some chill time together. 
Inside the modern home office, the hot orange accent envelops a huge desk, large enough for a collaborative team of four. 
Swivel chairs roll between stations to share input and ideas. 
Sculptural wall art communicates impressions of robotic circuit boards and mechanics. 
A short corridor and a dressing room effectively separates the master bedroom suite from the common areas. This gives the homeowners more privacy when guests stay over on the living room sofa. 
A KAWS statue strikes a quirky silhouette in front of a light box wall inside the master dressing room. 
A patterned bedstead carries a similar black and white aesthetic to the living room sofa. Red bed covers lay down colourful contrast. 
In the guest bathroom, an orange storage locker cuts a volume of colour into grey marble surrounds. 
A ribbon of LED light takes the orange accent to the opposite wall of the bathroom and into a shower area. 
The ensuite master bathroom design drops the orange accent in favour of dark walnut accents, which match the bedroom headboard wall. 
Glass doors lead directly off the master dressing room. The toilet is tucked behind a privacy wall. 
Tube lights create a cool feature around the bathroom vanity. 
Apartment floor plan. 
This apartment in Moscow shares a similar living room layout, albeit on a smaller scale. This time a plain grey modular sofa halves the floor plan, putting the kitchen diner behind it. 
A large indoor plant creates a visual stop between the lounge and the home entryway. 
Glass dining room pendant lights throw illumination over the back of the sofa. 
Modern fruit bowls make a useful table centrepiece in the small space. 
The starring artwork in this creatively inspiring home design is a quirky and colourful Cat art print by Michael Howard. 
Although the pair of dining room pendant lights are large, their clear makeup maintains an open feel of the compact room. The eye travels straight on through to a two-toned gypsum panelled TV wall, where a Bearbrick figurine poses at the end of a floating media unit. 
The one wall kitchen is made up of clean white base cabinets and appliance housing, with a centre of wood effect uppers for interesting tonal and textural contrast. 
A cool grey ribbed headboard feature panel runs behind the warm brown platform bed. An oak effect bedside unit matches oak flooring. 
Made-to-measure white wardrobes fit flush into crisp white walls. 
The bedroom rug has been shifted largely toward the window side in order to connect the bed with a neighbouring workspace. 
The sleek modern desk is integrated into a wall of shelving and storage. LED strips backlight the display nooks. 
A KAWS statue perches on one set of drawers, beside an atmospherically lit TV wall. 
At the desk, the elegant swivel chair features an oak effect backrest to complement the bedroom flooring and furniture. 
The second bedroom follows the same material palette as the first, but this time a floating desk design is combined with a wall mounted media unit. The cool desk light is a Flowerpot VP9 table lamp. 
Ribbed gypsum zones the workspace from the smooth grey TV wall. 
The clean made-to-measure closet style is repeated here. 
Custom bookshelves and a comfortable lounge chair create a reading nook by the window. 
Mickey Mouse graffiti art colours the home entryway. A unique vanity stool tucks underneath a floating entryway shelf. 
A glass closet makes an unusual entryway addition. 
The guest bathroom is dark and moody, with only an illuminated oak backsplash and a unique bathroom sink to brighten it.
