Pictures are nice, but let's be honest, how many of us would do something similar in our homes and I agree with another poster who says its just adding stuff for the sake of adding

stainless steel toilet seats are good too, we always use them on our newly built house instead of ceramic toilets -

Some of these features are being introduced already, and I agree with another poster who says its just adding stuff for the sake of adding. It does seem more automation and interaction with media is the way forward.

Not really the most up to date - when I lived in Japan (2005) my fairly normal bathroom had a digital control panel which did the following -

1) Automatic filling of the bath for bathing at a set time
2) Circulates the water around a heating element to keep it at temperature
3) Pumps the used water into your washing machine to wash clothes with
4) The toilet cistern had the sink on top as traveller mentioned

I'm sure these ideas can be improved on, but I was pretty damn impressed at what was the norm for apartments 5 years ago.

They're preparing for future problems. Other countries have water restrictions, or not enough clean water at all. And I don't just mean 3rd world for the restrictions, that's an issue in a lot of hot areas of the world. Australia for example.

The first 'concept' idea of the sink that fills the toilet tank is a great idea, so great in fact that its not a concept at all. a good chunk of the western toilets that I saw in tokyo had a sink on the top of the tank, rather than just a lid. when you flush, the water in the sink runs for you to wash your hands, and the soapy water cleans the bowl. This concept is really just a concept for the new design of the counter and sink to the left, which is a nice design.
