Pretty cool;
But it reminds me of an evolved version of a limousine;
It would be cool if everyone could have one tho;
no more drunk drivers or car accidents;
and road trips would be a breeze

Hmmm, I like the concept. With self-drive and tinted windows it's be perfect for a commute to work too - step out of the shower into your car in a bathrobe, have breakfast and get dressed while it takes you to the office. Then send it home on its own so it's available for the rest of the family to use.

You'd need to outfit each car with sensors, and network them together and probably to one or more central stations to generate the sort of information each car would need to navigate hazards and obstacles - immediate updates to traffic/weather/accident reports would be a must. Though the biggest hazard would probably be anyone who was driving manually on the same road. Something like this probably wouldn't be feasible unless everyone had one, or the controlling AI was smart enough to deal with the problem the average road lunatic presents.

I can't imagine the vehicles themselves would be hard to make right now; expensive, but not prohibitively so, and costs would decline as production increased. The infrastructure to support them on the other hand...
