My husband & I have a small and awkward area below our staircase which is basically a closed off closet. We have used it for the kids toys but everything ends up being thrown in and there is never any walking space. For our small children this place is uninviting and unfriendly. So we finally ripped up the ugly, old, smelly carpet and tore out the baseboards. Since then we have painted the walls a beautiful light green and have installed battery powered light bars to create and warm, fun & inviting atmosphere for our children. We will add cubby holes, also add some toy boxes on wheels so the kids don’t struggle taking the toys in or out & we also want to add a chalk board or white board.
